Luxembourg Arbitration Day 2026: A Day of Insightful Discussions and Exchanges
On 2 October 2026, the Luxembourg Arbitration Association (LAA) welcomed members of the arbitration community to the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce for the latest edition of the Luxembourg Arbitration Day, a day dedicated to current challenges and future developments in international arbitration.
Bringing together practitioners, academics and other arbitration professionals, the event provided a platform for knowledge-sharing, constructive debate and networking.
Exploring the evolving landscape of arbitration
The morning opened with a practical training session led by representatives of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), focusing on The Art of Drafting Arbitration Clauses — Transforming Boilerplate into Strategic Advantage. The session examined the importance of carefully drafted arbitration clauses, particularly in complex commercial relationships and multi-party or multi-contract arrangements.
The afternoon conference program addressed several key issues shaping the future of arbitration.
The debate Minds vs. Machines: Who Picks the Arbitrator — You or the Algorithm? explored the opportunities and challenges associated with the use of artificial intelligence in arbitrator selection, raising important questions about neutrality, efficiency and party autonomy.
The panel Luxembourg Arbitration: What’s New, What’s Next? examined developments following the 2023 reform of Luxembourg arbitration law, the modernization of the Luxembourg Arbitration Center and the country’s growing role as an international arbitral seat.
The program concluded with a discussion on investment fund arbitration, focusing on the complex jurisdictional questions that may arise when arbitration agreements involve nominees, sovereign entities and retail investors.
Strengthening the arbitration community in Luxembourg
Beyond the substantive discussions, Luxembourg Arbitration Day offered a valuable opportunity for professionals to exchange perspectives, establish connections and contribute to the continued development of arbitration in Luxembourg.
The LAA warmly thanks all speakers, moderators, participants, sponsors and partners for their contributions and support in making this edition a success.
We look forward to continuing these conversations and welcoming the arbitration community to future LAA initiatives.
